Have you ever had a partially finished project that sat in the shop and collected dust year after year? Have you ever had a project that was filled with frustration from beginning to end? This project satisfied both of those conditions. I started this clock probably five years ago. It sat around until the other day when it called to me and asked “ARE YOU GOING TO FINISH ME SOME DAY?” Well, you can imagine my surprise and my guilt.

After blankly staring at the clock for a few minutes, having remembered all of the things that went wrong during the build, I took it down from its dusty pirch and made up my mind that I was going to finish it.

Without further ado, I present to you….my first clock.

This picture shows the damage left by a router that developed a mind of its own.

This was my first attempt at applying walnut veneer.

This will not be my last clock. I plan to make a tall Shaker clock, not sure when though.

Thanks for taking a look.

Way to go! Glad you finished it.

I did the same thing many years ago. Just like you, I shelved the project, because I just didn’t have the patience to continue. But then, the day came when I was ready to take it up again and finish it, and like you, I’m glad I did.

Good job!

Good job and look forward to seeing your tall clock. I’ve got a Shaker clock been hanging in my shop for at least 5 years. All it needs is a set of hands on it, and a day of cleaning the dust off of it.

Nice job. Bet you are happy now that you finished it. I’ve had several projects sitting around myself and know the frustration of not finishing them. You have inspired me to finish mine. Thanks for the inspriation and for sharing.

Yes… I have one that hasn’t been finished over a year.
I’ll start it tomorrow again to finish it up.
