My first time using a lathe. I probably shouldn’t have tried black palm to start with, it seemed to blow apart quite a bit. This started out as a 4×4x2 blank, and after several explosions ended up at about 3×2.75×1.5… =p

For using black palm and your first turning your project came out great. I had a piece of that stuff about 2 years ago and it was hell to work with. I think i still have little black splinters in my hands. The end grain is awesome looking.

Welcome to the gang Nick ….

I’m impressed; I would have walked away and never come back. That stuff is darn ‘splody. It makes brilliant wine stoppers though. Welcome and have a great time turning!

Still looks pretty good, despite the explosions
