I made this toothbrush holder to replace our old toothbrush holder that was leaking blue fluid (it was a plastic tube with duckies floating in it). The top and bottom are laminated scraps of walnut, purpleheart, and maple. The spindle is from the same maple board, but is from a little lighter section of the board.
I finished it with three coats of an oil/ urethane mix and three more coats of straight urethane. I hope this is enough protection. I was trying to balance between a natural look and the plasticky look you get when you add to many coats.
