Toothbrush Holder

I made this toothbrush holder to replace our old toothbrush holder that was leaking blue fluid (it was a plastic tube with duckies floating in it). The top and bottom are laminated scraps of walnut, purpleheart, and maple. The spindle is from the same maple board, but is from a little lighter section of the board.

I finished it with three coats of an oil/ urethane mix and three more coats of straight urethane. I hope this is enough protection. I was trying to balance between a natural look and the plasticky look you get when you add to many coats.

If you are interested in more details and pictures, click on my website link in my profile, I have a full write up over there.

That is pretty cool looking. My wife is making herself a toothbrush holder out of pottery, I may just have to make myself one out of wood.

btw.. Welcome to LumberJocks

Wow, that’s too nice to use! With my 3 little ones it would be a wreck by the end of the month. Great work!
