I bought a Cherry Burl log from a guy who warned me ” It could be rotten inside” but I took the chance. It was quite rotten inside so I cut it up & threw it on the firewood pile to burn. Then I saw a free form bowl video so thought I would give it a try. After the flying Ants, Larvae, rotten prtions of wood were removed, this is what I ended up with. DON’T THROW ANYTHING AWAY, it all has a use sonewhere. The best part is I have 5 more chunks of ths Cherry Burl to have fun with…...................Jack

I really like the free form shape and the finish. would like to know more about your technique and finish products.

That’s a beautiful piece of wood! And you sure made a great bowl out of it.

All any piece of wood needs added is the imagination of the person looking at it. Very nice job.

-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it.

Martyroc, The finish is Rust-Oleum polyurethane gloss in spray can form. I liked the product but the spray can mechanics/operation was horrible, maybee I just got a bad can. First time I ever used this product…....Jack

DanoP, This is my first bowl and there was no technique I just ground away the rotten wood untill I got to a solid material, that’s what determined the shape of the bowl. I got lucky I guess. LOL. I addressed the finish part of your ? in my reply to Martyroc. Thanks for all the comments. This site is awsome.
