A fellow Lumber Jock (I will let him identify himself if he wishes) contacted me about making 15 pens for the leaders in his church. Eventually he told me his intent to send the pens to Utah for the First Presidency and the Quoram of Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

He chose gold slimline pens made with North American woods, some of which he provided.

We added a 16th pen for his wife. (sshhhhhhhhh, nobody tell her it’s coming.)

Photos:
1. All 16 pens
2. Curly Maple
3. Walnut
4. Sassafras – The color these amazed me. They have a silver shimmer.
5. Antique Heart Pine
6. Spalted Holly – for the Mrs.

-- The more I work with wood the more I recognize only God can make something as beautiful as a tree. I hope my humble attempts at this craft do justice by His masterpiece. -- Tim

They’re certainly a pen to be proud of. Very pretty and sure the leaders in his church will love them.

beautiful pens! Nice touch on turning a 16th pen for the Mrs…

-- I did measure it twice, it's still too short.
