Santa Ornament

I carved this Santa ornament this past Christmas for my first Christmas tree (I’m going to take a better picture later – this one is from my phone in terrible light).

It’s made from oak (did a number on my knives), finished with 1 coat clear paint, diluted acrylic paints, and then a mixture of boiled linseed oil, mineral spirits, and burnt umber oil paint to give it an aged look.

I’m planning on making a few more to give as gifts this year. I’ll post them as they come along.

EDIT: I uploaded 4 other pictures of the ornament. The 4th image shows the oak grain close up, which is one of my favorite aspects of the piece (unfortunately, it also shows my poor painting skills).
