My grandson was diagnosed with autism in 2007 and needed a table for the in-home therapy sessions he was enrolled into. I made this table and chairs for him out of some spalted sycamore I had sitting around just waiting for such a project. He LOVES trains, thus the cut-out in the backs of the chairs. :)

Beautiful wood grain. Is that a maker’s mark on the back of the chair? I would be curious to see it up close.

Rick,

This is a beautiful project. This is something that any child would be happy to use. The train cut-outs add a nice detail to the chairs as well.

Very nice post.

EXCEPTIONAL project – true craftsmanship- the train cutouts are great.

What type of joinery did you use on the chair legs because they look clean and solid.?

Hi Rick

Great looking table and chairs. My grand kids would really like something like this. You did a beautiful job on this set. This needs to go in as one of my favorites. Thank you for posting.

God Bless

Beautiful set, Rick!

I’ve made a couple of projects with spalted sycamore. It has a really interesting texture and appearance, doesn’t it?

I think when there is a meaning behind the build, it make the build that much better. Beautiful.
