I was looking to put up a swingset for my daughters, but they are so expensive, especially since I didn’t want to have to settle for treated lumber. In the end I found someone who was looking to get rid of an old set that their kids had outgrown. The top beam was rotten so they had taken it down (see second picture). I took it home, took it apart and rebuilt it with a new configuration new Cedar. I also used the old lumber that wasn’t rotten to build a garden shed workbench. I’ll try to get pictures of that up soon. All told I spent a little less than it would have cost to buy a set made with treated lumber. With those savings and the millions of smiles I earned last summer from my girls, I am a very rich man.

I love freecycle. Especially when there is wood and tools involved. Real nice job in rebuilding the set. I used an old slide someone was getting rid as a ramp and escape route for my daughter’s basement playhouse. She and her friends still love it. Many memories will be made and have already been made I am sure on your swing set.
