just needed sometime in the wood shop today. I had seen a video online where a guy glued pieces of wood together and then cut the whole box and drawer out of the block, probably something most guys on here have done but I hadn’t so there it is. I did not take as much time as I could have, a couple of my kids have asked for one and so this will be my prototype for the rest.

I’ll Second Don’s comment. Very addictive indeed.
This looks like a fun little one. Sure the kids will love hiding things away in them.

Cute! Did you mean to make a bandsaw box? For some reason this looks a little different. I checked your workshop and you’ve got what looks like a nice bandsaw! (too bad about that little router table – I bet you could fix it-just get that fence stable and it’ll do fine) Steve Marin has a nice little video on making a bandsaw box. And they ARE fun!

it is supposed to be a little jewelery box, saw the video on you tube. I haven’t looked into the band saw boxes real close, watched a vid by Steve but this is a little different.

Do look into bandsaw boxes! You can make one in an hour or so, (after you’ve glued together the initial block), then spend as much or as little time as you want sanding and finishing. They are the perfect “quickie” project IMHO. I made my first one in an hour and then spent maybe another hour gluing it all together, sanding, and throwing on a layer of shellac. I started with a little log so I didn’t have to glue up a bunch of layers first. But you will need a 1/8” or 1/4” bandsaw blade to turn the sharp corners.
