Victoria & Elizabeth

Recently a friend commissioned me to do a humidor for him. I aquired the wood and designed the box. When I called him to get approval for the design he told me that his new bride of a few short months had requested that he curtail his cigar habit and therefore did not need a humidor any more.

So the mahogany and beech became Victoria & Elizabeth.

Finished with BLO, laquer and paste wax.

Nice job on the insets in the top. You really have that technique down. Have you considered three wider splines with this look? How is the bottom fastened on? Named after English Queens?

Thank you all for the kind words!

@Boxguy; yes, Im planning a spline jig to help with wider and varied angle splines. The base is 3/4” routed to form the base detail and a glue shoulder (half dado). And yes, they are named for nobility. The names were suggested by a close friend. And please look soon for sisters Grace and Evangeline.

They do look good. I’m happy for your friend’s health, but bummer to lose a commission. You should be able to move these two and their sisters!
