I just completed a batch of pens. Since I use local wood wood that I collect and process, there is not lot of character in some pieces. I have been looking for a way to add some color to some of my pens. You can see the results here. The colorant is actually food coloring mixed with alcohol and applied on the lathe. I will try to put together a blog on the process of making this batch later on this evening. The last picture shows my quick assembly and processing table. This helps me to keep the glues and such off my workbench.

Thanks all for looking.

You can try using inkjet printer ink, really easy and very durable, far more than food coloring actually. Six drops of a single color with ten drops of water are waaay enough for a full pen, applied with a small paint brush ;)
