Made this for a friend. The backrest has 16 hand cut mortise and tenon joints. The corners are mitered and keyed. The lid comes equipped with slow close hardware and yes… I made the cushion too.

This was made out of poplar, dyed, oiled and then given a french polish.

I’ve found it very helpful to create the project in Sketchup first. I referred back to the computer model many times.

Odd looking seat. Wish you had taken pic from the end view, I am not sure what I’m looking at

Not sure the end view will do you any good, but here it is anyway. The pic of the toy chest before the finish was added might clarify things. its easier to see given the background.
