Man it is so good to be back, I haven’t posted anything in so long. This is a dollhouse style bookcase that I made for our great niece. This was an interesting project, I basically went by pictures I found on the internet. the most challenging part was the angles for the roof. The other problem was that the parents live in Virginia and I only had a few days to design build and paint this thing after which I would have to disassemble it to take it to Virginia with us. The roof was my main concern because I wouldn’t have a reliable way to assemble and clamp the roof once we arrived. So my solution was to build the roof as a separate assembly and the widows peak actually came about because I was worried that the angled joint wouldn’t survive the trip. I actually cut a large triangular piece of 1/4” plywood and then shaped the widows peak and cut a heart into it as decoration. I think it turned out awesome. When I disassembled the bookcase, all the paint in the joint got all messed up, boy was I mad! But I took a good paintbrush and extra paint and it all turned out ok. I also cut out the letters of her name with the scroll saw. The finished pics are in Virginia after the bookcase was delivered. Enjoy!
