This was a project started by my sister asking me to make her new baby girl a special bookshelf, I was only told to make it 4’ high and 2’ wide after looking at a few plans and my bookshelf I decided to make it 1’ deep. I went with pine because of the cost and my inexperience, mostly my inexperience I am not ready to mess up a higher quality wood. I originally was asked by my sister to paint it but after keeping her abreast of my progress and sending pictures to her she decided that a light stain and finish would be ok.

I had some issues with my router table (prompting my first blog on here), but all and all learned from the whole project and had a lot of fun. The next project will be a turtle foot stool that will replace the first project out of the shop a year ago, it will include some help from my wife should be interesting I am excited.

Thats a good job and I would not worry about using a good hard wood your up to the task.

-- I played with Legos as a kid and I never had the part I thought I needed, so I learned to improvise. Now I'm an engineer with a woodworking hobby.
