Natural edge box elder bowl turned from freshly cut storm damaged tree. Bowl is 15 inches in diameter, 7 1/2 inches tall and 3/16” wall thickness. Finish is many coats of mimwax gloss wipe on poly. I turned the piece all the way to the final thickness two days after it was cut down. By turning it thin, letting it spin on the lathe and using a high pressure air hose the piece was practically dry when I took it off of the lathe. Let it sit for a week in the shop and then put finish on it. The red streaks in the box elder will fade as they are exposed to UV light. I had enough of this wook to also turn a tall natural edge vase and a mini top hat.
