I have been dreaming of making a set of windsor chairs. So, I have begun making some of the tools needed for windsors. I’ve made this one out of walnut and maple, with a hacksaw blade as the scraper. I based this design off of Eliza Bizarrri’s reamer as the angle is made at six degrees. I used the lathe to get the basic shape then I fine tuned the shape with spokeshaves, bit and brace, block plane, and chisels. I cut a relief ahead of the blade for the shavings to escape.

Nice job. It’s always great making something with tools you have made.

That’s a great idea, and using the hacksaw blade, is good thinking outside the box.

Excellent! Did you cut a kerf to hold the saw blade? and if so did you do that before or after shaping?
Thanks for posting, very cool shop made tool.

Since you did that nice making the reamer I can’t wait to see your chairs. Great job. Are you going to make a inshave or a travisher? Jerry

Jerry – I am working on some designs for a travisher, inshave, scorp and a compass plane. I’ll post the tools when I make them. Thanks for the compliment.
