Robert Tripllet brought me the wood that is on the tops of these two boxes he handed me the wood and said lets see what you can do with these. The second box top is Spalted Maple the first top I can’t remember I know he told me but had a brain fart. He’ll tell you I aways forget and hes right LOL. The divider in the first box can me taken out or moved. The sides are Walnut.
Enjoy and thanks
Dennis

The top on that second box looks like a piece of marble. Very nice.

Dennis,

Great use of great wood. I like the sculpted lift. Have you tried gluing the top on to the box and then cutting it apart and hinging it later?

That is some beautiful wood and you have become a very prolific box builder. Now it is time for you to do some wooden hinges for the next group!

Boxguy I do make boxes once in a while that way but with this wood I wanted to sow it off the reason for the walnut in the back was to make it stronger the wood itself is way to sotf.
gfadvm I know and one day I want to make wood hindges need to buy a blade for that though. I tried with the blade I have and it did not work for me.
Thanks for the comments and questins.

Dennis, the first box top is Big Leaf Maple and the second is Spalted Big Leaf Maple. I am still looking at my spalted maple box top and deciding how to hinge it. Nice job on these. A couple hundred more and you could be good!!!! LOL
I might have an extra piece of the Curly Redwood for next time I see you.

Look at the Patron hinges. They don’t require a new blade and are pretty cool looking.
