Suposedly ~ Lil’ Abe had a table like this for a desk: according to a book that had the plans for it. I didn’t design this project. It makes a nice end table with shelf for some books. Too small for a desk. I made mine out of maple and spend forever sanding the little nooks and cranies by hand even with emery boards. No easy task. Finished with a tung oil ~ no stain.

Yes, very nice, I like to see a table that has different shaping, I have never seen that design before.

David,

This is a unique design. And while it can be tedious, sanding is unfortunately a necessity. Too often we, as woodworkers, tend to get in a rush to complete a project after the construction is finished forgetting that as much time should go into the finishing steps as did the construction.

Nice job on this table. By the way don’t be hesitant about posting more pictures. You have three slots to work with so use them all to showcase your project.

Thanks for the post.

Nice table, my father made one just like this only with mahogany.
