I decided to try a different type of pen to turn. The piano pen is for my youngest son who can play
quite well. The piano pen is ebony with a holly keyboard. Finish is a couple coats of lacquer. The Stars and Stripes was for me. The dyed pieces are box elder and the stars and white stripes are maple. Took quite some time to glue 50 stars in the top. Turning both pieces was a test of patience also.

I have a few collectible fountain pens and have enjoyed using them over the years…sadly, I’ve become a keyboard fanatic. Pen writing is much more thoughtful. A slow, careful process in which each word is weighed and stained by the ones preceeding and following. Some beautiful pens for your son…and something he’ll cherish for the rest of his life.

Tilt,
These are fantastic looking pens. I can tell you without a doubt that I would not have the patience or the ability to do something like this.
Great job.
