Camphor Wood Bowl Series

The entire backyard smelled like camphor as I cut into these old camphor logs. Most bowls shown (and platter) are around 12” to 13” diameter and up to 7” deep. Tung oil finish over Beale buffed surface except deep V salad bowl which has a lacquer finish. I stll have several large camphor logs to attack. The colorations are wonderful (for firewood).

is camphor wood the same as the “vicks vapor rub” smell?

The 1st one is my favorite. Nice and deep….....will hold a lot of popcorn.

that is beautiful wood… I live in San Diego and have never seen it here. Do you know some place I would be able to pick a few chunks up at?

I am located in so. cal. I keep finding camphor in storage yards that some tree cutters keep (usually a backyard off the beaten path). Literally every yard has had large camphor logs. Sometimes I have to scratch the grey logs and sniff them out…the camphor smell is strong.
