This is my first project in highschool. Ya thats right not in college, this was built my freshmen year in highschool. Everything was done by me, I designed it and drew my own plans to quarter scale. The project was built in one school year with plans and finishing. It is stained with 2 coats of fruitwood stain (the second one being wet sanded), varnished with 5 coats of Bartley’s hand-rub varnish, and waxed with 2-coats of J.E. Moser’s premium quality paste wax. No special inlays or anything, just plain oak.

Troy,

That is absolutely beautiful. You must have a special program at the high school you attended to be turning out projects like this (at the age of 14 too!!!!). This would be a challenging build for a seasoned woodworker which makes it even more special.

Thanks for sharing.

Troy;

You’re off to a great start in woodworking. Your fortunate that your school still has a wood shop program. I know that was my favorite class.

I even got a good grade a that class!

You did a great job, both in design and construction. Nice finish also.

Lee

Hi Troy

You have done a beautiful job on your design and the building of this night stand. I was a woods instructor for 5 years and a furniture designer for 35 years after that. You might want to get into this profession some day. From what I see you have a God given talent. You are so blessed that you have an instructor that encourages this type of work from his students. Thank you for posting

God Bless
tom

Very, very impressive! Design, construction, finish….. all the elements are top-notch.
