I wanted to build a small speaker stand that was hard to tip over and concealed the speaker wire. So this is what I came up with. It has a granite base, and cherry wood. The tower is made up of 4 mitered and tapered sides which makes the middle hollow. The speaker wire in concealed in the middle and comes out a hole in the bottom of the granite base.

Looks good, I really like the tapered look. I made some similar ones but didn’t taper them and these looks way better.

I agree with bevins587, the taper makes the look.

Good thinking on the base, that should keep it from tipping over. Nice taper, sharpens it up a bit.

Great job. These look brilliant. How did you cut the holes in the granite?

I cut the holes in the granite with a diamond coated core bit. They are rather expensive, but when you need one, you need one. I’ve actually used it many times cutting holes in countertops for customers of mine.
Have your say...
