I guess I’m about the third LJ’er to make this particular project from a set of Woodsmith plans. Unlike the others, I pretty much made mine as pictured in the magazine with the exception of using walnut for the darker wood instead of staining. I tried several stains but just couldn’t get the right color. Wenge looked awesome but would have been way too expensive, so walnut it is!
Finish is waterbased poly inside and oil based poly wiped on outside.

Sweet! Looks great, I made one as well but changed it up on both the style and size. But started with the same plans. Yours looks great, well done.
I didn’t realize you were a local. I’m in lakewood near Long Beach.
I have had your I’ve got a secret on must must do list for some time. Once this table I’m making is done it will be the next one.

Looks great, reminds me of those old console record player radios with the checkered holes in the doors. Really nice design. Props on the turntable!
