Black Walnut Knife Display

This is a piece of a black walnut log that was roughly cut to this shape with a chainsaw
and then lots of work with a belt sander to smooth and flatten everything out. The
sanding was all done pulling against the bark so I didn’t pull it away from the wood.
The slots in the top where the knives fit into were done with a hammer and chisel.
Little by little was taken away to give the best fit for each knife. Finished with a
clear shellac.

Looks amazing, are you going to keep it on a shelf in your living room?
