This is an antler mount that I did on commission. My brother in-law had me make this for his boss for a Christmas present for his son. I used maple for the main board, walnut for the ring around the antlers, yellow heart for the plaque & wenge for the little plugs. I wood burned “My First Buck” on the plaque. I wanted it to look different from those that i’ve seen so I added some copper to the skull cap, that way the bone didn’t show. I also wanted to give a little extra attention to his tag, so I routed out an area on the back & covered it with some Plexiglas. I also used felt behind the walnut ring. I finished it with 2 coats of spray on poly. The outside edge was painted black & covered in black flocking. The little plugs are beveled on four sides to form a pyramid. Over all I think it turned out nice, the best part & most important, the man giving it to his son loved it. I was told that the little boy was so happy he hung it in the hallway Christmas morning. Thank for looking.

This came out real good. I especially liked the walnut ring and the plugs which I think give the whole plaque a very special look.

Man that is a really nice display. You did a great job all the way around on this. I bet that boy’s eyes popped out of his head when he saw this on Christmas morning. He will remember this for the rest of his life.

Roger~ Yes I did, I drew it on first, then burned it with a hand held cheapo wood burner.
Thanks all for the nice feedback, it means a lot.

That’s probably the nicest antler mount plaque I have ever seen! All of the detail you added make this a one of a kind which this young man will treasure always. The woodburning looks like it was done with a laser!
