One of my peeking mice. These are the most popular carvings I have at my craft shows.
He is carved out of Basswood and painted with Acrylic Paints. The pattern is a Donna Menke original.
It is for sale on my Etsy.com store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DesignerFirewood.

I can see why they are so popular. Warm, gentle, tactile. And bright eyed! What tools do you use?

Thanks everyone.
Spunwood. I use a drumel usually depending on the mood and location of where I am carving. If I am out and about then chisels and gouges and knife but this was done with power.

Nice job on those mice, they look a lot like mine. Did you take a class with me at Carve Fest or the International Woodcarvers Congress. Glad to see that they sell well.
This was one way to mount them: http://www.woodworks-by-donna.com/woodcarvings.html

Thanks Donna. They are not even near as good as yours. They are actually your pattern and a few have variations to make them different from each other. No I am sorry to say I did not get to take your class at Carve Fest but picked up your pattern and directions from your website about a year ago. The people I work with at 3M think they are cute because I have them all over my cubicle.

That explains it- I was wondering if I knew you from a class, or not. You mention that your customers like the mice with the textured and wood burned fur best of all. That is all I do, but my students have sometimes made them in different colors. Nice to see your versions- Donna
