I made this box out of cherry wood for a rabid University of Virginia grad. This is the first time I’ve tried to make wooden hinges and I’m happy with the way they turned out. I “stenciled” the logo on the top with a ball-point pen and then re-inked it twice…..a long, tedious process I wouldn’t want to do again. I applied Howards Feed-n-Wax one time and buffed it up a bit.
Each box I make I learn a little more and that’s all a newbie woodworker can ask for. Thanks for looking.

That came out really nice!

Glad the ink didn’t run or bleed.

Good looking box, I also like the hinges – they came out great.

I love to do stuff that gives me a challenge. Some I do again and others I make the claim you did!! Your box turned out fantastic, however.

Nice looking box. Good job on the hinges. I really should get around to trying them.
