Finally got a new computer and this is the first chance I’ve had to upload any of my projects, so here goes. I turned the 1st ornament 2 years ago as one of my first projects on my lathe. This year my Great Dane apparently didn’t like it(or liked it too much). So christmas eve I rushed to make a replacement for my girlfriend and I think it turned out better than the 1st. The bulb is maple and the finial and top are walnut with a spray-on poly finish. I know it’s out of season but, as always, I’m playing catch up:)

Very cool ornament. Yes that would be worth making again and again. Very nice work.

Thanks Mike, and you’re right. These are fairly easy to turn and assemble. I didn’t realize how bad the first picture was until I posted it, it was taken with a phone camera. I also just realized that I didn’t turn the tree with as much detail in the replacement. the first time I put “steps” in it to give the appearance of different size branches.

Have your say...
