This is my first project with cherry that I built for my sister and her family. After working with maple, walnut, purple heart, etc. cherry seams pretty pleasant. I started the finish with two coats of 1# shellac and topped that off with five coats of wiping poly (just thinned poly).

Very nice work here. Cherry is one of my favorite woods as well. Hope you don’t mind if I put this in my “favorites” file?

It looks sturdy and well-crafted. The color is pleasing as well.
Great job

What a beautiful elegant piece of furniture. You made cherry look really good. Love the finish.

Very nice. I like the open storage on the bottom instead of the top lifting for storage.

Ditto The Head Chuck! I’m looking at your project and remember one that’s waiting on me where I need to build a simple box to elevate the mother-in-laws dryer up. She gets dizzy bending over to get the clothes. It was going to be a simple 3/4” plywood box…...until I looked at your amazing piece here. Now I’m thinking something open on the front where she can have baskets for easy pull out storage, or the grandkids toys possibly.

Great job!
