This is a boat bed that is a little different then my normal version. Most of these that I build will have a solid color applied to it. This one needed to be a stained oak. I’ve built similar ones before, both in oak (example maple (example).

Most of the time switching from paint grade to a hardwood is just to use a different material, but on the boat was a little different. We had the Bow of the boat that had a curve in it. Normally I use a bending plywood and fill and paint it, but had to add an extra step to this on. Had to add an oak veneer. See blog on more details Oak Boat Bed

Chris,
You build some very nice beds that I’m sure that the little boys who get them just love. Great job as usual sir.

Wow! What a fantastic bed! After I saw that I had a thought. A wall mural would be perfect on the wall in that room with that beautiful hand crafted vessel!

Woodshaver, that is a good idea. I am about to make another one and thought about making an extra one for my showroom.

Napaman, you’d like this. It is a sail boat our church is building in the Philippines.
