Nice ring. Three layers give the posibility to change nervure direction and build a stronger ring.
Is that the reason you made it this way?

Douwe: I went with the layered design just because I liked the black stripe, but I did take advantage of the two maple layers to change the grain direction and add strength to the ring, as you suggest.

I like your design, the bllack and white, that was the thing that catched me. Thinking how I would build it and why that way was the second layer. Believe your ring has three. Do you mind if I try the experience of making one?
