My son has a beautifull hand carved wood chess set from South Africa. Its on display in his room. Unfortunately one of our cats loves to play with his chess pieces scaterring them everywhere. Worried that he may loose a piece he asked if I could make a box for him to store them in. So I did. But instead of a stand-alone box I added rails to the base of the board so in effect it bomes the lid for the box.
Used mahogany finished with paste wax to match the finish of the chess board.
Just to reiterate I did not make the chess board or carve the pieces.
