Medicine Cabinet: Add two more shelves or roll with it?

My wife would like me to add a shelve to each of the open sides. I thought the tall sides would make the room feel bigger. That do you guys think add them or roll with it?

This project is made of cherry and walnut. It was finished with bush oil finish. The contract in the woods was not as great as I would have liked but o well.

Nice work! My thought about the shelves depends on their intended purpose. If they are to be decorative, then leave them tall, but replace the box of q-tips with a plant or something. If they are to be functional then there is a lot of wasted space and the shelves would be used.

My vote is to put the business part behind the mirror and keep them decorative.

Thanks Aaron, I was thinking some bamboo would look good there.

Personally I would leave them decorative and tall, I know if I put any more shelves in the next day the rest of my family will have cr@pped it up. Looks really nice

I agree…leave them open and make them decorative. Possibly a glass shelf if anything. Great work j. Your bathroom looks 100% better my friend!!!

Wife wants shelves; add shelves.
Keep your wife happy; it’s too small an issue to debate.

There are never enough shelves, and especially if your wife wants them…put ‘em in. Great looking medicine cabinet!

Your wife gets more votes than all of us combined. Add the shelves.

More shelves. You will be happier that you did. I would do them in some sort of etched or sand blasted glass, but it would also look beautiful in some matching wood cabinets.

In fact, they could stand to have two shelves added each. But that’s my personal preference, and you should do what makes you and your wife happy.

I have to go with adding the shelves as well—but I’d make them glass shelves so you can retain some of the aesthetic you’ve acquired. Very nice job!!

I just glanced up and also saw the “happy wife happy life” comment.

That must ALSO be weighed heavily: true words right there! ;-)
