When my sons outgrew their youth beds, it was time make them something that they wanted. My oldest son is into the renaissance era, so his headboard was a simple design but it needed something on it that was special for him. The sword is hand carved and painted. From this distance it actually looks real. My youngest son’s bed was also a no-brainer: what to make for a piano player but a keyboard. The marks on the keyboard are from where he plays the piano in his sleep.

These are very nice projects Brian. I am sure that (1) you had a lot of fun doing these and (2) your sons really enjoy having personalized headboards. This gives their beds a unique look.
Thanks for the post.

That is really cool. At first I thought the sword was real and I told my wife “Nothing like keeping your home protection close while sleeping.”.
You did a great job on both pieces. Thanks for showing us.
Keep up the great work.
