This is one of the boxes I’ve made trying to use hand tools only. It came out ok I think. I tried a couple of stains on scrap pieces and did not like any, so I left the pine natural, I flocked the inside, put on a couple of coats of water lox and waxed it. I still don’t like the lid – can’t get it to sit right – but thought I better quit while I’m ahead.

Nice job Betsy. I have a secret for you. Many of us make boxes for years are always not satified with one aspect or another. You’re on the right track, keep making them.

Well done Betsy!! This is a nice box. I have to warn you to be careful with these though. They are highly addictive so build another one at your own risk. :)
How did you have time to work this in between the dovetails, adirondack chairs, posting comments and reviews and everything else going on? You must have outstanding organizational skills.
Thanks for the post.

Scott – the time issue is easy. No responsibilities except go to work and church. Leaves a lot of time for other things.
The chairs though have spurred me into thinking I should put my woodworking to work for charity auctions – would give all that sawdust a purpose other than for my personal enjoyment.

Another nice box Betsy. Don’t be so hard on yourself, all of your boxes look good to me. You back to 100% (health wise)?
