I built this for my wife after our old tabletop shattered from a storm.

Monkman,

The design is very interesting visually. Is the panel a glue up of solid wood strips to form the pattern? If so I have concerns about the long term stability of the design since it has such a mixture of grain directions, I believe you will see a lot of stresses from wood movement and eventually the glue joints will begin to fail, especially the joints where endgrain butts into long grain…

Good luck!

Herb, as you predicted the stability of the design had several flaws. I built this last summer and after our move across the US the table took a turn for the worse. It only cost about $15 to make so I will just make another one will all my lessons learned.

Thanks
