Through the years while chiseling out a mortise, I have always used an inadequate hammer that never seemed to be the right fit for me. To overcome this problem, I made two mallets that fit just right for me. One that is large for really persuading a chisel and a smaller one for fine tuning the wood. Both heads are made from maple and the handles are oak. Now when I hit a chisel I know it is going to do what I want it to do.

Brian, they almost look too good to use but I guess thats part of doing a goog job in the first place. Great mallets.

I’ll bet they sound nice when they make contact. You can just tell when the strike is on the money by the sound. Cool mallets.

Thanks to all: sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t use them, but if they wear out, I get to make more!

Brian,

These are very nice mallets. They not only are beautiful but functional as well. I am sure that you had fun doing these.

Well done and thanks for sharing.
