this box is solid cherry bottom no joints cut on band saw, used a forstner bit to hollow out inside, then flocked. top is maple inset is the nicest burl ive found (amboyna burl) ( The hinge is hand made of ebony I have done some small clocks also but another day

WOW! That is a nice box. Not sure if i like the inside compared to the beautiful wood used on the outside. I know people like a softer inside for jewelry, or to hide the bottom, but i prefer to see nice wood. If I understand right, you did all of the inside with a flat bottomed bit. Did you use a router to clean up? Thanks for posting.

Looks great and the inside is well done, great idea on the forstner bit
