The woodworking magazines were starting to pile up, so I made a few cases to hold them. I was going to use box joints, but for the life of me couldn’t get the joints to line up. So instead I used these whateveryouwantocallit joints, reinforced with brass pins. I’ll have to try the box joint jig again sometime … the first time was a miserable failure.

Nothing is a total failure. Odds are you can go back find your mistakesand learn from it. Nice job anyway. Unique and functional.

The box joints may have been a failure, but the “whateveryouwantocallit joints” are wonderful. I always love to see the outside the box joinery in projects!

Wow – I had to look at that twice since the granite is almost identical to the granite in our kitchen. Your magazine boxes have a lot more wow factor than mine. Very nice details.

Woodworkers never make mistakes, they just provide themselves with an opportunity to re-evaluate their design.

They look like Greene & Greene style finger joints. A look I love. Nice work!

Wow those are far nicer than what I’m planning to make to hold my magazines.
