Since the birth of my newest grandson I have been building him some cool things for him then I came up with an idea for a robot toy box. This project was to have a potato bin type front on it so he could just pull it out and select a toy but his Momma wanted it to be a dresser instead, you can see who won that one. I did however design the head into a toy box for all his little cars.
The arms are adjustable so he can have them in any position he wants and I mounted the head on a lazy susan so he could spin it if he chose to. I was going to put battery powered light in for his eyes so he would have a night light but mom thought it would scare him so 2” dowels were used instead. For the ears I cut the ends of the 2” dowel on a 45% and mounted them.

First let me say I LOVE IT!!! You are a supper Grandfather! I’m thinking this project is right up there with Best of Show!
I would like to bring your attention to one thing that I’m always concerned with when it comes to children. and that is Safety!
In looking at how interesting your Mr. Pickles is I wonder if a child would try to climb up the draws in an attempt to see Mr. Pickles face to face? Would he tip over? This project is nicely done and I’m Sure you have thought about safety here. But for anyone that builds anything for children we need to keep the Safety issue’s on top! This is just a reminder! :)
You did a fantastic job on your project!
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Mr. Pickles. Would you be so kind as to hold my socks please?
Gotta love gifts that are never to be forgotten…

As a fan of robots, I wish I could favorite this a million times.
If my wife and I ever spawn, our child will be one found-on-the-side-of-the-road dresser away from their own robotic chest-of-drawers… :)

Thanks for all the comments guys! I did however put some thought into him wanting to climb on it. I made the feet extra long in the front to help keep this from tipping over should he try to climb on it.

Hey Poppa Tom,
I looked at those nice big feet and thought! Yep! They are foward of the draws and he knows what he’s doing!
Food for thought never hurts when it comes to safety!
