Pretty much over the top for a fundamentally simple project, but I like the look of end grain and had the time. Cherry, walnut and sassafras. A functional project and a good use for scraps. Thanks to SPalm, Mary Ann and others for the idea.

I love that project and, more importantly, I know my wife will! Definitely added to my projects to-do list. Thanks for posting.

PS Where did you get the hardware?

First one I recall seeing made with end grain. Good design. I like it a lot.

Thanks for the kind feedback, LJs. Dave, the hardware was purchased from CheeseSlicing.com. Their parts can be found here: http://www.cheeseslicing.com/site/681068/page/924433
