I finally got around to making a cabinet to house all the media devices we have in the family room. I wanted a fairly low profile cabinet to hold the 60” TV so it would be on the same plane as my eyes when I was sitting on the couch. I also wanted to have the two left and right front speakers mounted about in the middle of the screen height so I made some 8 sided columns to hold them. I designed the openings in the cabinet to allow good air circulation to keep things cool and to be adjustable. The center opening was made to perfectly fit the sub-woofer and the top surface of the main cabinet was made deep enough to hold the center channel speaker in front of the TV. It is all made from red oak.

Now that’s a cool setup. I especially like the subwoofer being neatly in the middle, instead of stuffed in the corner like an afterthought (as it is in my house).
