This is a 11-Point Buck I carved on commission for a friend of mine. He wanted it stylized and natural to show the wood grain. It is carved out of Butternut including the antlers. He has 10-points on top and one drop-tine for the 11th point.
The rack with the drop tine only took two tries as I was about 80% done when I broke it in the middle and had to start over again.
I named the piece “Winter ghost” as he is supposed to be walking down a snowbank.
This is also one of Desiree Haney’s patterns that I got out of one of my carving magazines and her book was used for additional ideas. I made a few changes I like turning and raising the head, the racks are larger with more points and the drop-tine, and the deer body size is larger. Hers is a smaller 8-point but Bill wanted a larger deer. Oh ya, hers is much much better carved than mine. Thanks Desiree.
This was the first deer I have carved as I lean more towards mice, roses, and birds.

nice carving! Carving the antlers must twist your head, they are so delicate.

Thanks everyone. Reggiek… There is no way I do them justice lol they are very majestic. Love to sit out in the woods and watch them and take photos even when I am not hunting.
