So this was a very special project for me, back then and even more now as I look at these few pictures and remember the time spent with my Grandfather (c.1937- Dec 28th 2011).

This was my first big project during the summer before my first year at NSCC. The deal was, I wanted a new bed, and I just spent 5 weeks in a cabinet shop that also made murphy beds for a school work term, so I thought this would be a good challenge for the both of us. Construction is all birch plywood and solid wood, painted white. Hardware and plans came from Lee Valley.

Great job! I cherish the time I spent in the shop with my grandfather as well, and plan on passing on that knowledge some day…gotta keep the trade alive.

Looks great! Mine is a family business, so I’ve been in the shop all my life with my dad and grandfather. I can relate to the memories. Thanks for posting.

Pretty much the same! Gotta keep it in the family, my brother is not tradesman-ly inclined, hes a BC Major in Economics and Minor in Accounting.. he’ll probably make more money, but i’ll enjoy my work more

Made one of those too a few years ago….worked out great. Also go the plans from LV and they were great!

Good looking bed.
