For years our CD’s and movies have been either on a rack in the open or stuffed inside one compartment of our entertainment center. After making the blanket chests this past Christmas, I was tasked with making a CD cabinet.

I spent some time figuring out what size we needed and ran the plans by my wife. Who said “It’s not big enough.” (Yes, I’m still talking about the cabinet) It’s a typical carcass like you would see with a bookshelf or cabinet, although I planned this out for adjustable shelves. I used our entertainment center cabinet doors to make a template for the arches on the raised panel doors. (Also found a stain that comes close to the color on the entertainment center.) A routed a decorative edge on the top lid. I couldn’t find the exact hardware we have on our entertainment center, but got close.

Cabinet size is 31” X 12” X 54” tall. It holds 420 CD’s or 2 or 250 movies. (I need to start buying more CD’s to fill it up now.)
