This was a storage chest made to house some of my brother-in-laws belongings after he passed away last year. He was a dedicated forester for the state of Tennessee for over 30 years, and was committed to enjoying the outdoors. To honor his spirit, I thought I would build a chest for his important “stuff” that was built without the aid of any power (with the exception of a light bulb and vacuum). The chest is made of cherry that was selected in rough form and dressed by hand. All joinery was accomplished with hand tools. The design was modified from the plans for a tool chest found in Fine Woodworking a number of years back. The miters on the lid are reinforced with walnut dovetail keys.
