After the General Lee, I told myself I wouldn’t be making any more beds. Who was I kidding? When it was nearing time to move my boys into a room together (as #3 was on the way), I asked my younger son what kind of bed he would like to sleep in. I admit I tried to talk him into a police car bed (keeping with the Dukes of Hazzard theme), but alas, he wanted a dinosaur. A t-rex. This posed a bit of an issue as the t-rex was more of a vertical, upright standing dinosaur, and my kid sleeps horizontally. So, coming up with a design was going to be a bit tricky. I honestly just freehanded the design on a sheet of 3/4” plywood, cut it out & traced it to another piece. The front of the “Sammysaurus” is a pair of bookshelves, handy for keeping bedtime stories nearby.
Once again, the worst part of the project (if theres anything bad about making things in the garage) was paint. I didn’t learn my lesson the first time, and cheaped out on the plywood. This only lengthened the sanding/painting process. All said & done though, the boy is happy with his bed. I just can’t wait until they get older, and the two creations turn into a bunk bed. Yeee-HAW! ;)
