This project was an extremely fun project, and one that I learned so much on.
First of all, I had no plans whatsoever. I found a photo of this entertainment center on the internet, and then plugged in my own dimensions after measuring the distance between the two windows.
I built this project out of both solid cherry and cherry laminated MDF…along with 3/4” birch plywood. Three main components make up this piece of furniture. Two towers and a center bridge. Both towers have 4 casters underneath. This will really come in handy seeing that I will some day be moving the entire carcass to the other side of our living room.
Each tower has a tall and narrow pull-out drawer that holds VHS tapes and DVD discs.
When the day comes where my TV just won’t fire up any more, I’ll build a lower cabinet and then place the flat screen TV on top of that piece.
I finished the project off by building two window benches next to the two towers. These hold my two base speakers.
