This is from a hunk of firewood I found on the side of the road driving to Lowes one day. It looked interesting and I had just gotten my bandsaw. I was itching to cut something. Once I saw the grain pattern due to rot I had to put it on the lathe.
I turned this with the grain running lengthwise and out popped this flame looking pattern.
