This is from a hunk of firewood I found on the side of the road driving to Lowes one day. It looked interesting and I had just gotten my bandsaw. I was itching to cut something. Once I saw the grain pattern due to rot I had to put it on the lathe.

I turned this with the grain running lengthwise and out popped this flame looking pattern.

Maple, `4”x5”, Watco

I was just going to say “it looks like a flame” and then I read your description!

Great find; great “vision” and great execution

Hi Gary,

Again a nice find. The bowl “turned” out beautifully. (pun was intended).

Thanks for the post.
