This is a commissioned work ordered from my Uncle to use as a Valentines Day Gift.

His girlfriend’s cat passed away recently and he thought this would make a special gift to her.

He stated he would like it on a lighter piece of hardwood. I was able to find a very nice piece of maple and plane it down to around 1/4 of an inch. The piece I found was over 2 inches thick so I was able to re-saw it into three usable pieces – good deal!

The pattern took just as long to create as the cutting for this work – something to do with getting the correct amount of detail in the stripes but not too much.

Piece measures 10×12 inches. Finish is a soak in lemon oil and a thick felt backing.

And yes, the cat’s name was “Pucky” – all my Uncle had to say when I asked him about the name was “Don’t Ask”, so I didn’t. ;-)

Nice one, Bob.

I think you’ve caught that feline look very well.
